I grew up surrounded by entertainment. My
father had his day job in sales, but was also a
professional square dance caller. Believe it or
not, that second “job” allowed him to take our
family on trips to Europe many summers. Weekend
square dance festivals often included a Saturday
night variety show where lots of people
performed skits for the crowd. I have many happy
memories doing skits with my four siblings,
watching my dad do skits and watching my mom
giggle with delight as she helped us all with
custom costumes and props. Performing is, as
they say, in my blood.
I was first exposed to film making on a family
vacation in the fall of 2010. Whereas I had jet
skiing, quad running and shooting guns on my
personal agenda for fun for the long weekend, I
was quickly recruited to help my brother-in-law
produce his first short film, Dracula Dragonfly.
How could I say no when he said he wanted my
daughter to be one of the lead roles and that he
needed my help? I found myself helping people
with their lines and wardrobes, dressing sets,
looking for continuity points from day one to
day two, crewing, and supporting the Director in
every way that weekend. That’s when it all
happened, I got bitten by the bug. I just knew I
had to be part of this creative process again,
and again.
Since then, I have been in numerous Michigan
based films doing everything from extra work to
make-up to choreography. I love the whole
process from hearing the concept and reading the
script for the first time, through rehearsals,
through the shoots (and sometimes the giggles)
right through seeing the final piece on the
screen. I grew up watching variety shows like
The Carol Burnett Show, and The Sonny and Cher
Comedy Hour and family programs like Happy Days,
Good Times, Gilligan’s Island and The Love Boat.
Oh how times have changed!
Being selected as a member of the cast of You’ve
Got To Be Kidding Me America is a fun, creative
outlet for me. I’m glad I took a chance at
trying something new as I’m having a great time
exploring and sharing the talents I have. I look
forward to creating new characters and skits to
share with you all.

Life is the voyage, not the harbor.
Muscle goes everywhere, fat sits in the fold.
Leaders keep their eyes on the horizon, not just
the bottom line.

can’t, you’re right.

Ever have one of those days when you
remark "You Got to be kidding!" as if you
were in complete disbelief. Well, these
videos reflect really good bone-head satire
about life in general. Filmed in Grand
Rapids Michigan for the community television
(cable) stations, the videos present several
clips that show some of the dumb myths and
absurdities that exist in today's society.
It looks at all those things that we observe
as totally unbelievable yet these things do
happen, not just on this production but also
in every day life; all the weird stuff that
you can imagine. Enjoy You Got to be Kidding
Me America!
